Calvert, along with his wife, Elizabeth, owned and managed several businesses in the area, including the Harbour Town Yacht Basin. The couple was well-known and respected within the community. On the day of his disappearance, John had a meeting with his accountant, Dennis Gerwing, to discuss financial discrepancies related to their businesses.
