On October 1, 2009, 33-year-old Walter Shannon Stevenson, who went by his middle name Shannon, disappeared from Memphis, Tennessee. That day, he had called his grandmother from an acquaintance's home in the 2700 block of Misty Valley, initially asking her for a ride to her house. However, he later called back to say he had found another ride. Shannon never arrived at his grandmother's home and was never heard from again. His car and all of his personal belongings were left behind at his grandmother's residence. At the time he went missing, Shannon had a distinctive appearance. He had brown hair styled in a mohawk, brown eyes, and several piercings, including both ears and one below his bottom lip. He also had a tattoo of the word "MANIAC" on his lower arm and a sun tattoo on his right arm. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt, cotton pants, and sneakers, along with a wide gold band-type ring and a cross necklace. His family noted that while he had a history of drug problems and had been released from prison about a year prior to his disappearance, he had always maintained regular contact with his grandmother and would not typically be out of touch for more than a day or two. Years after he vanished, a significant development occurred in the case. In September 2017, the acquaintance from whose home Shannon had made his last phone call, Jeffrey May, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with his disappearance. Despite this charge, investigators have not publicly released the details of the case against May. Foul play is suspected in Shannon's disappearance, though his body has not been recovered. The case remains a painful mystery for his loved ones, who are still seeking definitive answers about what happened to him.
