Audrey Jean Backeberg, a 20-year-old mother of two, disappeared on July 7, 1962. She had left her home in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, planning to pick up her paycheck from the woolen mill where she worked. Audrey was reportedly accompanied by a 14-year-old girl, and together they hitchhiked to Madison, Wisconsin, before boarding a bus to Indianapolis, Indiana.
