Robert Glenn Bennett, 51, was last seen on February 16, 1983, in Los Angeles, California, while working as a supervisor at the Whittier Narrows Sanitation Plant. On that day, he drove with his co-worker, John Alcantara, into a remote area near the plant. Bennett never returned, and his wife reported him missing that evening. Investigators later found large amounts of blood and tire tracks in the area, leading to suspicions of foul play.
Years later, Alcantara, who had been a long-time suspect, was charged with Bennett’s murder in 2005. Witnesses came forward, claiming Alcantara confessed to shooting Bennett in the head, dismembering his body, and disposing of the remains at the Puente Hills Landfill. Bennett’s body was never recovered despite extensive searches. Alcantara was convicted of the murder in 2008 and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
