Richard Edward Gillespie, age 43, was last seen on January 1, 1986, in Strafford, Missouri. Gillespie had led a transient lifestyle at the time of his disappearance, often hitchhiking between states. He had previously served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and was a Navy veteran. Gillespie left behind a wife and three children but continued to move frequently, which made tracking his whereabouts challenging.
