However, Michele never returned to pick up her son or complete her errands, and her disappearance was reported later that evening by the child's father and grandfather.
Six days after she vanished, Michele’s light blue 1987 Ford Thunderbird was found abandoned at a Comfort Inn in Bismarck. Oddly, the car appeared clean, with only a half-eaten sandwich left on the front seat. Her father later found some scoria rock near the vehicle’s intake manifold, an uncommon material in the Bismarck area, raising further questions about her car's location.
Prior to her disappearance, Michele had expressed concerns about being harassed by some patrons at her workplace, the Burnt Creek Club, where she worked as a blackjack dealer. She had requested a transfer due to the troubling behavior. Michele’s case initially closed after a reported sighting at a music festival in Minnesota, but authorities later determined the sighting was unlikely to be credible. Her case was reopened, and authorities suspect foul play.
