In the winter of 1995, a 21-year-old woman named Stacy Pennant disappeared from Brooklyn, New York, leaving behind a mystery that has endured for decades. On the evening of February 9th, Stacy, a student at Queensborough Community College and a cargo agent for Delta Airlines, went to see a movie with a friend at the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream. After the film, she drove her companion home to Canarsie, Brooklyn. She was last seen at approximately 11:30 p.m. on East 85th Street, between Avenues M and N, behind the wheel of her recently purchased blue 1990 Honda Civic with New York license plate number E478RT. Stacy, who lived with her mother in Laurelton, Queens, never made it home that night, and neither she nor her vehicle have been seen since. Stacy was described by her mother as a responsible and dedicated individual. A Jamaican immigrant who had moved to New York City with her mother in 1992, she was a diligent student who earned excellent grades and maintained a steady night job at Kennedy International Airport. Friends and family remember her as being in good spirits on the day of her disappearance, excited about her new car, which she had decorated with stuffed animals in the back window. Although she had recently broken up with a boyfriend, she did not appear to be distressed. The friend she was with that night stated that she was her usual self, laughing and seemingly without a worry. He had given her directions to the Belt Parkway for her drive back to Queens, a route that should have taken her approximately 30 to 40 minutes. The investigation into Stacy's disappearance has explored various avenues over the years, but has yet to yield any definitive answers. Early in the investigation, police considered a possible connection to the murder of another woman, Kimberly Antonakos, who was taken from her home near where Stacy was last seen. Additionally, the discovery of an unidentified woman's body in a suitcase in Brownsville, Brooklyn, was also investigated for a possible link, but Stacy was ultimately ruled out through dental records. Theories surrounding her disappearance have ranged from foul play to a possible car accident. Despite the passage of time, Stacy Pennant's case remains an active investigation, a painful and unresolved chapter for her loved ones who continue to hope for answers.
