Described as a white female with brown hair and blue eyes, she has a scar on her abdomen and pierced ears.
At the time of her disappearance, she was employed at Threads USA and resided with her former in-laws.
Concerns grew when Debra did not return, and she was reported missing by her former in-laws on March 29, 1995. They hesitated to report her missing sooner because she had a history of being out of touch for a few days at a time. Adding to the concern, two of her paychecks were left behind. A significant break in the case came on April 9, 1995, when her Chevrolet Caprice was found abandoned in a wooded area off State Route 97 in Chester County, South Carolina. The vehicle's license plate was missing, but there were no apparent signs of foul play at the scene.
The investigation into Debra's disappearance has continued over the years. At the time she went missing, she was going through a divorce, and her ex-husband was considered a person of interest in her case. He passed away without ever being charged in connection with her disappearance. In April 2018, authorities conducted a search in Waterloo, South Carolina, using cadaver dogs and ground-penetrating radar after receiving new tips that her body might be buried behind a home that belonged to her ex-husband. The search focused on a concrete slab on the property. The results of that search have not led to a resolution in the case.
