In the summer of 1996, a 30-year-old woman named Susan Marie Cummings vanished from Toledo, Ohio, leaving behind a life that was, by many accounts, in a period of uncertainty. She was last seen on July 18, 1996, in the vicinity of the 2200 block of Hickory Street. Shortly before her disappearance, Cummings had been evicted from her residence, adding to the instability in her life.
