On a crisp autumn day, November 1, 1997, 33-year-old Douglas G. Depue set out for a solitary fishing trip on Seneca Lake in Watkins Glen, New York. He was last seen at approximately 10:30 a.m. alone in his Lund Bass boat, enjoying the tranquility of the water. This peaceful image would soon be shattered, marking the beginning of a long and painful mystery for his family and community. The last known sighting of Depue placed him on the expansive lake, a familiar setting that would soon become the focal point of an intensive search.
