Summary based on the NamUs case record (MP13105) and 3 other sources
Richard James Estrada, aged 38, was last seen on May 5, 2000, in Naples, Florida. He worked as a pin hooker at the Hibiscus Golf Club and was last observed leaving the club at approximately 11:30 a.m. on that day. He did not return for his paycheck or show up for work the following day. Estrada was known to be a responsible employee with no history of issues related to drugs, alcohol, or gambling. His loved ones emphasized that he would not likely loan his car to anyone.

Three days after his disappearance, Estrada’s house in the 5500 block of Laurel Ridge Street was destroyed in a fire. The connection between the fire and his disappearance remains unclear. His vehicle, a blue two-door 1990 Oldsmobile Toronado, has also been missing since his disappearance. Estrada was not reported missing until June 29, 2000, almost two months later, due to a misunderstanding within his family.

Authorities consider his disappearance suspicious, and it is unlikely that Estrada left voluntarily. The case remains unsolved, and law enforcement continues to seek information that could lead to a resolution.
