On a summer afternoon, Sunday, July 31, 2005, 25-year-old Christopher Dickinson and his friend, Darren Mellor, ventured out onto Lake Mendota in a 17-foot Larson fiberglass fishing boat. The two men were from Ridgeway, Wisconsin, a small village in Iowa County.
