The love between family can be a powerful bond, and for Dion "Bay Bay" Akemon, visiting his half-brother in Cincinnati was a priority. In the autumn of 2005, Dion, a 32-year-old from Memphis, Tennessee, made the trip to Ohio to spend time with his younger brother, William "Will" Roland. Having been in the city for only a day, the two inseparable brothers, who shared a father, decided to go out for the evening. Those who knew them described Dion as the outgoing "life of the party," a contrast to the more laid-back William. Their evening took them to the Parktown Cafe, a venue located in the 1700 block of Linn Street, a place they often frequented on the west side of Cincinnati. The details of what transpired that night are hazy, but the events that unfolded would leave their families with questions that have lingered for years. On that Monday evening, Dion and William were last seen at approximately 10:00 p.m. Eyewitness accounts suggest the brothers were seen near a white van in the parking lot of the Parktown Cafe. Some reports indicate they were called outside by a man for reasons that remain unknown. Dion, who kept his head shaved, was wearing a white t-shirt, black shorts, and a pair of Air Force One sneakers. He had a mustache, pierced ears, and a tattoo on his neck. After this point, all communication from both Dion and William ceased. Neither of the men has been seen or heard from again, a silence their families found deeply uncharacteristic. The discovery of some of their personal effects shortly after they vanished intensified the growing concern for their safety. A short time after their disappearance, the brothers' cell phones, wallets, and keys were found discarded in a dumpster on McMicken Street. Among the recovered items was William's white Cincinnati Reds baseball cap, which tragically was stained with blood. This discovery led authorities to suspect foul play was involved in the men's disappearance. While both brothers had past involvement with the justice system, their families maintained they were actively trying to leave that life behind. The case remains a painful mystery, centered on two brothers who vanished together from a Cincinnati street. The perplexing lack of answers and the ominous discovery of their personal belongings have left a void in the lives of their loved ones, who continue to hope for a resolution to their disappearance.
