Pauline Lorraine Klumpp, age 51, disappeared on July 2, 1988, in Port Arthur, Texas. She was last seen visiting a rental property she owned, where her tenants were living—one of whom was Roy Melanson, a convicted criminal with a history of violent crimes against women. On the day of her disappearance, Klumpp went to the property to collect a television set and reportedly asked Melanson to help her fix an air conditioner. They left together, and she was never seen again.
Four days later, Klumpp’s car was found abandoned in a grocery store parking lot with the television still inside.
Foul play is strongly suspected in her disappearance, with Melanson considered a prime suspect due to his criminal history, which includes murder convictions. He is also suspected in other disappearances, but he has not been charged in Klumpp’s case. Her body has never been found, and despite the investigation linking Melanson to other crimes, Klumpp’s case remains unsolved.
