Myrtle Ann Green Hudson, a 34-year-old woman from Port Arthur, Texas, went missing on September 11, 1986, under alarming circumstances. That day, Myrtle’s husband came home to a horrifying discovery. While their 3-month-old daughter was found safely sleeping, their 18-year-old daughter, Willette, had been murdered. Willette's body was found in the attic, and she had been bound and strangled.
Despite a break-in at the house, Myrtle herself was nowhere to be found, and her personal belongings, such as her purse and keys, were left behind.
The case remained unsolved for years, with investigators suspecting foul play from the start. In 2008, the case took a grim turn when Tommy Lee Stewart, a man with a violent criminal history, was linked to the crime through DNA evidence. Stewart confessed to killing both Willette and Myrtle, indicating that he had left Myrtle’s body on Pleasure Island. However, despite his confession, Myrtle's body has never been recovered. Stewart was already serving a life sentence for another crime and was not prosecuted for Myrtle’s murder. He will be eligible for parole in 2028.
