His wife reported him missing at 5:00 p.m. after he failed to return.
Schmidt had mentioned wanting to go swimming, but it remains unclear whether he entered the water or left the area by land. Extensive searches along the beach and nearby areas yielded no signs of him. Schmidt was last seen wearing a blue and white floral bathing suit, without shoes or a shirt. He has a distinguishing six-inch surgical scar on his shoulder. Despite investigations, his disappearance remains unsolved, and it is uncharacteristic of him to leave without warning.
