Rupinder Kaur Goraya, a 34-year-old woman, was last seen on October 2, 2007, in Fort Myers, Florida. She was reported missing by her coworkers on October 19, 2007, after failing to show up for work at Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center. Rupinder's disappearance raised alarms as she left behind personal belongings, missed a doctor's appointment, and there was no activity on her credit cards or phone after she went missing.
At the time, she was managing various health conditions, including diabetes and a recent hysterectomy following stomach cancer surgery.
Rupinder had moved to the United States in 2006 after marrying Kultar Singh Goraya in an arranged marriage in India. However, their relationship was troubled, marked by domestic violence incidents. In May 2007, Kultar was arrested for choking her, and Rupinder had obtained a restraining order, though the couple later reconciled. Shortly after Rupinder's disappearance, Kultar left the country for India with their young son, taking some of her belongings, including her wedding ring.
Despite Kultar's claims that Rupinder may have run away with another man, investigators found no evidence supporting this, and in 2015, Kultar was convicted of second-degree murder in connection with her disappearance.
