Maria Dilenia Espinal, a 65-year-old woman from Fort Myers, Florida, has been missing since December 13, 2020. She was last seen in the early morning hours after leaving her residence on New York Avenue following an argument with her boyfriend. Espinal, who suffers from dementia, walked away from the home and was last observed near Luckett Road, east of Ortiz Avenue. Her family noted that she had left home before but typically returned within hours.
However, this time, no trace of her was found, and she has not been seen since.
Espinal was wearing a light green or blue sweater over a white shirt, gray sweatpants, and black Croc shoes at the time of her disappearance. Described as a Hispanic woman with graying blonde hair and brown eyes, she was considered vulnerable due to her medical condition. An extensive search was launched by the Fort Myers Police Department, including the use of K9 units and search teams, but no significant clues have emerged.
Her family and local authorities have continued their efforts to find her, but the case remains unsolved. There is no evidence of foul play, and the search continues to focus on the possibility that she became disoriented due to her dementia.
