In the early morning hours of September 19, 2010, 29-year-old Joshua Merle Cavilee was on a camping trip with friends in Tuckerman, Arkansas. The group was off of Jackson 625 at a location known as Lockhart Landing. At approximately 3:30 a.m., friends reported that Joshua, who had been drinking heavily, passed out about ten feet from the bank of the Black River. The riverbank at that spot was described as a steep, ten-foot drop straight down to the water.
When his friends went to check on him an hour later, at roughly 4:30 a.m., Joshua was gone.
An extensive search of the area was conducted, but there was no sign of Joshua. Left behind at the campsite were all of his personal belongings, including his hat, boots, and vehicle. At the time of his disappearance, Joshua was described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing at 5'11' and weighing around 141 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. His nickname is Josh.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is the investigating agency in Joshua's case. While authorities have not ruled out the possibility of foul play, the exact circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear. Over the years, his case has been documented by various missing persons organizations in the hope of generating new leads.
