Susan DeQuina, a 22-year-old mother of two from Lynn, Massachusetts, went missing on October 3, 1979. That evening, she left her home with her boyfriend, Michele Gagnon, a member of the Hells Angels, supposedly to buy a refrigerator. She had arranged for a neighbor to babysit her children. Witnesses recall that several other people were present in the apartment before DeQuina and Gagnon left together around 6 p.m. Gagnon returned to the apartment hours later, but Susan never did.
Shortly after her disappearance, her car was found abandoned and burned in Saugus, Massachusetts.
The case grew even more complex when, weeks after Susan vanished, Gagnon's roommate, Robert Garbino, was found murdered and dismembered. His torso was discovered near the location where Susan's car had been abandoned, and his other body parts were found in their shared home. Gagnon himself was later found dead from a gunshot wound in what was initially ruled a suicide, although authorities have expressed skepticism about the circumstances of his death.
