Known to his loved ones by his middle name, Gene, he had last been in contact with his father by phone on or around March 15th of that year. As the days turned into weeks with no further word, what began as concern grew into a deeply troubling mystery. The exact date of his last physical sighting remains uncertain, reported as sometime in late March or early April 1999. David, a white male with brown hair that was beginning to gray and brown eyes, stood between 5'10" and 6'0" tall and weighed between 175 and 185 pounds. It wasn't until nearly two years later, on January 18, 2001, that David's father officially reported his son missing to the Giles County Sheriff's Department, formalizing the fears that had been held for so long. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance were scarce, leaving investigators with a puzzle that had long gone cold. The lack of immediate information made the initial stages of the investigation incredibly challenging, as they worked to piece together a timeline and identify anyone who may have seen or spoken with him in his final known days.
