Starr Maurie Hill, a 46-year-old woman, was last seen on May 18, 2005, in Middletown, California. On that day, Starr reportedly left her home on Western Mine Road after an argument with her husband, Curtis Hill. According to Curtis, Starr walked away during a rainstorm and headed toward town. She was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, a green sweater, and blue jeans. A friend reported seeing Starr walking along the road near Twin Pine Casino later that day.
Curtis claimed that he returned home from work the next day to find an angry note from Starr, indicating she had left him. Some of her personal items, including her purse and makeup bag, were missing. Despite previous instances where Starr had temporarily left following arguments, she always remained in contact with her family. This time, however, she did not reach out, raising concerns. Her daughter reported her missing on May 21, after several days without communication, which was highly unusual.
Searches were conducted, including the use of search dogs on the couple's 37-acre property, but no evidence of her whereabouts was found. In October 2005, five months after her disappearance, Starr’s cell phone was discovered in brush along Highway 29. However, the phone did not provide any new leads.
Although there were unconfirmed sightings of Starr in Colfax, California, and no definitive evidence of foul play, her case remains open. Investigators continue to consider her disappearance suspicious, and Curtis has been named a person of interest. However, no charges have been filed, and Starr’s case remains unsolved.
