Summary based on the NamUs case record (MP16333)
In the border town of Nogales, Arizona, a 34-year-old man named Juan Miguel Cortez Ramos vanished on September 9, 2009. On that day, he was reportedly crossing the border from Mexico into the United States with the intention of traveling onward to Phoenix. Originally from Nogales, Juan, who also went by the nickname 'Lil man,' was a Hispanic male with brown hair and light brown eyes.
At the time he went missing, he stood approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed around 170 pounds.
The specific circumstances of what happened to Juan after he was last seen at the border remain unclear. Information regarding whether he was traveling with anyone or what his specific plans were in Phoenix has not been made publicly available. The Pima County Medical Examiner's Office is the investigating agency in his case, with a report having been filed on March 15, 2010. Since the day he was last seen, there has been no contact from him, and his case has grown cold over the years.
Juan has several distinct physical features that his family hoped would aid in his identification. He has a scar on his nose and acne scars on his face. He is also heavily tattooed, with 'F13' on the back of his head, 'South Side' and 'Efe' on his stomach, and a pinup doll on his right arm. His right arm also features a tattoo of a deck of cards with the words 'Juan, Miguel y Cortez' and 'Ace Card.' Additionally, his right hand is tattooed with the name 'Florencia,' his left hand with 'Sur 13,' and his right knee bears the words 'RIP,' 'Thumper,' and 'Chico.' Despite these distinguishing marks, years have passed without any resolution. The initial report of his disappearance was made months after he was last seen, and the trail has since gone cold, leaving his family with unanswered questions about his fate after he crossed the border with hopes of reaching Phoenix.Last Seen: Sep 9, 2009
