On August 25, 2011, eighteen-year-old Yesica Yazmin Becerra Gomez was on the verge of a new chapter in her life. Originally from Mexico, the young Hispanic woman was last seen attempting to cross the border from Altar, Sonora, into the United States. Her intended destination was the area north of Altar, near Tucson, Arizona. Yesica, a female with black hair and brown eyes, embarked on this journey and has not been heard from since that day.
