On a Sunday afternoon, December 18, 2011, 23-year-old Phoenix Coldon vanished from her family's home in Spanish Lake, Missouri. Her father last saw her at approximately 2:20 p.m. as she drove away in her black 1998 Chevrolet Blazer. Just a few hours later, her vehicle was discovered abandoned about a 25-minute drive away in East St. Louis, Illinois.
