Caleigh Harrison, a 2-year-old girl, went missing on April 19, 2012, from Long Beach in Rockport, Massachusetts. She was at the beach with her mother and 4-year-old sister when a ball the children were playing with rolled over a seawall. Caleigh’s mother briefly left the children to retrieve the ball, but when she returned, Caleigh had disappeared. Despite an extensive search, no trace of her was found that day.
Authorities believe that Caleigh likely fell into the ocean and was swept away, given the strong currents in the area that day. While some in her family initially considered the possibility of abduction—based on a report of a strange man seen near the beach—this theory was eventually dismissed by investigators, who concluded that she most likely drowned. In November 2012, a pair of pink capri pants, similar to the ones Caleigh was wearing, washed ashore nearby, but no further evidence was discovered to confirm her fate.
Although extensive searches were conducted, including by the U.S. Coast Guard and local authorities, her body has never been recovered.
