On the evening of July 28, 1973, in the small town of Wilber, Nebraska, 79-year-old Mary Oliva and her husband of 52 years, Frank, vanished without a trace. Neighbors observed the couple returning to their home between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. as dusk settled. Just a few minutes later, they were seen driving away in their beige 1958 Chevrolet, heading north before turning east. This was the last time anyone reported seeing them. Several days later, their daughter-in-law, Shirley, grew concerned after learning they hadn't been seen for a week and discovered an accumulation of newspapers and milk deliveries at their residence. Upon entering the home, she found the front door closed but unlocked.
