Alice Mae Van Alstine, a 28-year-old mother of four, was last seen on the night of March 26, 1976, at her Des Moines, Iowa apartment. After putting her children to bed, she vanished without a trace. When her children woke up the next morning, they found their mother missing, with her purse, money, coat, and shoes left behind. Her car was still in the driveway, with the keys in the ignition, and a broken bottle was found on the apartment floor, raising concerns about foul play.
