Jade Colvin, a 14-year-old from Des Moines, Iowa, was reported missing on June 10, 2016. At the time of her disappearance, she had auburn-dyed hair and was last known to be living in or around the Dubuque, Iowa area. Jade had connections to several cities, including Phoenix, Arizona, and Dubuque and Decorah in Iowa. Despite multiple searches, her last confirmed contact with her family was in March 2017, nine months after she was first reported missing.
Jade was known to have a history of running away, and authorities initially believed she might have been living independently. However, her case took a darker turn when, in 2024, authorities charged a man named James Bachmurski with her murder. It is believed that Jade had been communicating with Bachmurski online before traveling to his farm in Decorah. After arriving, she used his phone to send texts due to poor cell service. Following her disappearance, her belongings were found at his residence, but she was never seen again. Police suspect that Bachmurski killed Jade the same day she sent her last message. He now faces charges of second-degree murder and awaits trial.
