On July 4, 1977, John Block, 57, and his wife, Jean Block, disappeared after taking off from Macomb Airport in Utica, Michigan. The couple was flying in their private Cessna 150J aircraft, intending to visit their son at Lost Creek Sky Ranch in Luzerne, Michigan, to celebrate Independence Day. Despite being an experienced pilot with over 30 years of flight time, John was navigating by sight, and no flight plan was filed before they left.
