In the summer of 1980, a 24-year-old man named Willie Darnell Kornegay vanished while visiting relatives in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was last seen in June of that year at a residence located at 116 N. East Street. At the time of his disappearance, Kornegay was described as a Black male, standing between 5'7' and 5'9' tall and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds.
