On a summer day in June of 1982, seven-month-old Shannon Patrick Ketron was with his mother, Ann Ketron, traveling between Buffalo and Cordell, Oklahoma. The infant, with his blond hair and blue eyes, was last seen in Cordell on June 17th. His mother reported a harrowing encounter that led to his disappearance. According to Ann, she had pulled her silver 1978 Pontiac off to the side of a dirt road near Route 183 to get something from her car. It was then that a man in a green, late-model GMC truck allegedly stopped and approached her vehicle. Ann recounted that the man, described as a white male with a dark complexion, standing about 5'10" and weighing around 175 pounds, asked if she needed help. After she declined assistance, he reportedly told her she looked like his ex-wife before striking her and causing her to lose consciousness. When Ann awoke, her infant son, Shannon, was gone. Also missing was a green duffel bag that contained baby supplies. At the time of his son's disappearance, Shannon's father, Dustin Ketron, was incarcerated for burglary. Decades have passed since Shannon vanished, and his case remains an unsolved mystery. The identity of the man in the green truck has never been discovered, and Shannon has not been seen or heard from since. Ann Ketron submitted to a polygraph examination as part of the investigation, but the results were never publicly disclosed. The case, which is classified as a non-family abduction, has left a void of answers for his family and the community. The investigation, which is now considered a cold case, is being handled by the Washita County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a young child in rural Oklahoma have left a lasting and sorrowful impact, with the hope of finding answers for Shannon diminishing with each passing year.
