Peter Abraham Siems, a 65-year-old retired merchant seaman, disappeared on June 7, 1990, after leaving his home in Jupiter, Florida. He had plans to visit his mother in New Jersey and possibly his son in Arkansas before joining a missionary group in Alabama. However, he never arrived at any of these destinations.
Siems's gray 1988 Pontiac Sunbird was found wrecked and abandoned in a rural area near Orange Springs, Florida, on July 4, 1990. The vehicle's license plate had been removed, and there was significant damage, including broken glass. Witnesses reported seeing two women at the crash site, one of whom was later identified as Aileen Wuornos, a notorious serial killer. Wuornos's palm print was found inside the vehicle, and she later confessed to being involved in Siems's murder, though his body has never been recovered. Wuornos was convicted for multiple murders and executed in 2002.
At the time of his disappearance, Siems was an active participant in a Christian missionary group and had retired from the merchant marine two years prior. His case remains open, though foul play is suspected due to his connection to Wuornos.
