George Marcel Lutas, a 26-year-old computer entrepreneur, was last seen on November 20, 1991, in Germantown, Maryland. Lutas was working on a promising software project and had left his job to start his own business, Renaissance Information Solutions. His disappearance occurred while he was in the midst of raising funds for his company and attempting to market a software prototype.
Lutas was last known to be living with several business associates, but tensions arose over business disagreements. Just before his disappearance, he was reportedly in conflict with one of his partners. In December 1991, his family filed a missing person report after Lutas failed to attend a family gathering in New York. Some of his business associates, when questioned by authorities, gave unusual explanations, including claims of hiding from a Romanian hit squad, but they offered no solid information on Lutas's whereabouts.
Despite investigations and multiple leads, Lutas has never been located. There is no evidence that points to foul play, though his family and investigators remain perplexed by his sudden disappearance. He was declared legally dead after several years of being missing.
