Originally from Brazil, Arisoneide had been living in the United States after marrying her husband, Matthew, with whom she had a troubled marriage. On the day of her disappearance, she dropped off her nine-year-old daughter at a friend’s house and was last seen by a friend driving near her home around 2:00 p.m. She never picked up her daughter as planned later that day.
When her daughter was brought home by her friend’s family, they found Arisoneide's car parked in the garage and her wallet, keys, and personal belongings left on the kitchen table. The house was locked, but there was no sign of her. Arisoneide’s loved ones described her as consistent and family-oriented, making it unlikely she would have voluntarily left her child behind. She had also been dealing with ongoing health issues from a 1988 car accident.
At the time of her disappearance, Arisoneide and Matthew had reconciled after a separation, but Matthew was struggling with heroin addiction.
