Danielle Zacot, 25, was last seen on February 25, 1999, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her boyfriend, Brian O'Connor, reported that he left her apartment around 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. that evening. Danielle mentioned that she planned to watch television and later go to the Winn-Dixie supermarket around 1:00 a.m. An employee at the store confirmed that she purchased a loaf of bread that night, but she was never heard from again.
Two days after her disappearance, her car, a blue 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier, was found locked in the Winn-Dixie parking lot, but there were no signs of Danielle. Her family became alarmed when she failed to show up for work and emphasized that it was highly unusual for her not to stay in contact. O'Connor was cooperative with the investigation and was not considered a suspect, although foul play is strongly suspected.
A witness later claimed to have seen Danielle talking to a well-dressed African-American man outside the store and entering a white sports car with him. Authorities also looked into the possible involvement of Lucious Boyd, a convicted murderer and suspected serial killer, who had business connections with the printing company where Danielle worked. Boyd has been labeled a person of interest in her disappearance, but he has not been charged in connection to the case.
