In the autumn of 2003, a distressing event unfolded in Niagara Falls, New York, leading to the disappearance of 27-year-old Walt Downs. On October 16, 2003, Downs vanished, but the circumstances surrounding his departure are complex and troubling. Initially reported as a standard missing person case, the investigation soon revealed a darker side to the story. Downs was wanted by authorities for the alleged stabbing of his ex-wife, which occurred the night before he went missing. This violent altercation immediately escalated the search for Downs, transforming it from a search for a missing person into a manhunt for a wanted fugitive. The events of October 15, 2003, paint a grim picture of domestic violence. Downs, accompanied by two friends, went to the home he had shared with his wife, Colleen, to retrieve some belongings as they were in the process of divorcing. An argument erupted, and when Colleen refused to hug him, Downs allegedly produced a knife and attacked her, stabbing her multiple times in the face, head, neck, arm, and breast. One of the friends who tried to intervene was also stabbed. Downs then fled the scene in a vehicle belonging to one of the friends.
