Carlos Pacheco, just 1 year old at the time, was last seen on May 2, 2005, in Watsonville, California. He and his sister, 3-year-old Hazel Bracamontes, were abducted by their non-custodial father, Adrian Aguilar Pacheco. At the time, the children were in foster care, and Adrian was allowed a supervised visit with them. Instead of returning them as scheduled, he fled with the children.
A felony warrant for kidnapping was issued for Adrian on May 5, 2005. Authorities believe that the father may have taken the children out of state, possibly to Mexico, as he had a history of using false identification and had prior run-ins with the law. Carlos, who suffers from asthma and requires medication, has not been seen since the abduction.
Despite investigations, neither Carlos nor his sister has been located. Authorities still suspect they could be in Mexico or elsewhere under different aliases. Their father, Adrian Pacheco, remains wanted by law enforcement.
