Kali Athukorala, a 1-year-old girl from Belchertown, Massachusetts, was abducted by her mother, Sandra Clarissa Zemialkowski, on April 13, 2009. Sandra had initially taken Kali to the Dominican Republic in December 2007, with permission from Kali's father, Dhanika Athukorala, for a two-month visit to see family.
