In the summer of 2011, in the quiet community of Brush Prairie, Washington, 67-year-old Edward "Bud" Fisher was last seen on August 1st. His subsequent disappearance would unravel a grim family tragedy. Initially, family members were told by Bud's son, Troy Fisher, that his father had gone on a spontaneous vacation to Europe with an old girlfriend. However, as weeks turned into a month with no word from the typically communicative Bud, concern grew among his daughters and other relatives, who found the story highly suspicious. This growing unease prompted them to report him missing to the Clark County Sheriff's Office on September 9, 2011. The investigation into Edward Fisher's whereabouts soon focused on his son, Troy, who had been living with his father after a recent divorce and job layoff. Detectives executing a search warrant at their shared home discovered troubling evidence, including two large sections of carpet that had been cut out. During a lengthy interview with investigators on September 19, 2011, Troy Fisher confessed to killing his father. He claimed that on August 7th, he and his father had an argument, which led to a struggle over a handgun, during which his father was shot. Troy then admitted to intentionally shooting his father a second time in the back. Following the murder, Troy withdrew several thousand dollars from his father's bank accounts. Despite his confession to the killing, the full truth of what happened to Edward Fisher's body remains a painful mystery for his family. Troy Fisher claimed that he had burned his father's body in a burn pile on their property and had disposed of the bloodied carpet in a remote area of northern Clark County. Investigators did locate the discarded carpet, and forensic testing confirmed the blood belonged to Bud Fisher. However, a thorough examination of the burn pile by a forensic anthropologist yielded no evidence of human remains, contradicting Troy's account. To this day, Edward "Bud" Fisher's body has never been recovered, leaving his loved ones without the closure of a proper burial. The case is a somber reminder of a life cut short by familial violence, with the final resting place of the victim still unknown.
