Donald Weston Dugger, 43, was last seen on August 11, 2012, in Warroad, Minnesota. A truck driver, Dugger had just returned from a long-haul trip to the East Coast and was at his place of employment, unloading personal belongings from his truck into his car. Earlier that morning, Dugger called his sister, alarmed by a group of people he claimed were surrounding his truck. He described them as wearing camouflage and appeared frightened during the conversation. He told his sister he would call 911, which he did. When police arrived, however, no one was found at the scene, and they observed Dugger continuing to load his vehicle before leaving.
Days later, on August 18, Dugger's Hyundai Elantra was discovered abandoned and stuck in the mud on an ATV trail in Beltrami Island State Forest, about 10 miles from where he was last seen. Footprints were found leading away from the car, and one of his gloves was located two miles from the vehicle, but no further signs of Dugger have been discovered. Despite extensive searches, including in the forested area, no substantial clues have emerged to explain his disappearance. His car was found with his gun inside, a fact that puzzled his family as Dugger was known to always carry it with him.
