Victoria Prokopovitz, a 59-year-old woman, was last seen at her home on Kunesh Road in Pittsfield, Wisconsin, at around 10:00 p.m. on April 25, 2013. Her husband, James Prokopovitz, claimed that when he woke up the next morning at 4:00 a.m., Victoria was gone. Despite searching the area and then going to work, James did not contact the authorities until he returned home later that afternoon. Victoria left behind important personal belongings, including her purse, phone, and dentures, but her medication was missing. She did not have access to a vehicle, making her sudden disappearance more puzzling.

Victoria had a history of mental health struggles, including previous suicide attempts over a decade before her disappearance, leading some, including James, to suggest that she may have taken her own life. However, her family disagreed, stating she had been doing well at the time and did not show signs of depression.

In the years following her disappearance, James Prokopovitz and his girlfriend, Kathryn Friday, were arrested in connection with the case. James was eventually charged with homicide, perjury, and other offenses, and was convicted in 2021. Investigators discovered inconsistencies in James' statements, and evidence of blood was found in the couple's home. Despite his conviction, Victoria’s body has never been found, and the full details of what happened remain unknown.
