Erik Swan Lamberg, a 51-year-old man from Hermosa Beach, California, was last seen on May 27, 2013, in Laytonville, California. Erik, who had been struggling with bipolar disorder and substance abuse, had traveled to Northern California, possibly intending to reach Oregon to enter a sober living facility. His silver 2004 Honda Odyssey broke down in Leggett, and he stayed at a hotel in Laytonville while repairs were being made.
On May 26, Erik called his family to inform them that he was waiting for the repairs to be completed. After checking out of his hotel on May 28, Erik vanished without a trace. His abandoned vehicle was found on June 1, stuck in a ditch along a remote road near Willits. Some of his belongings, including expensive electronics, were missing from the car, suggesting a possible break-in. Despite extensive searches, there has been no sign of Erik since that day, and his credit cards and phone have not been used.
Erik’s family believes he may have become disoriented or lost due to his mental health struggles, but they continue to hold out hope for new information. His case remains open with the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.
