Matthew Greene, a 39-year-old high school math teacher from Pennsylvania, went missing on July 16, 2013, while hiking in the Mammoth Lakes area of California. Greene was an experienced outdoorsman, spending the summer of 2013 climbing with friends in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains. His car developed mechanical problems, and while waiting for repairs at a local shop, Greene decided to stay behind and continue hiking solo in the area.
