Tony Escalante Aguilar, 31, was last seen in the downtown area of Thompson Falls, Montana, in October of 1995. He had been a resident of the town for two years, where he had been employed as a mill worker. Aguilar had acquaintances in Missoula and other parts of western Montana, but no family in the immediate area. He is described as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, standing at 5'6" and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He also has an unknown tattoo on his left arm. Aguilar may have used the alias "Saudy" or spelled his middle name as "Escalanta".
An avid fisherman, it is believed that Aguilar may have been fishing in Squaw Creek at the time of his disappearance. This popular recreational spot is where the creek converges with the Clark Fork River. His car was later found parked near the creek by Blue Slide Road, but there was no sign of Aguilar.
This discovery prompted a search of the area, with family members even traveling from California to aid in the efforts. In 1998, an underwater camera was used to search the bottom of the Clark Fork River, but this yielded no clues as to his whereabouts.
The circumstances surrounding Tony Aguilar's disappearance have led authorities to believe that he may have been the victim of foul play. One theory is that he may have been murdered and his body thrown from a nearby bridge. The specific bridge has not been publicly identified, but possibilities include the Birdland Bay Bridge or a railway bridge in the vicinity of Riverview Lane.
