Michele Bonnie Schlick-Harris, a 52-year-old woman, was last seen on December 31, 2007, in Fort Bragg, California. On that day, she left her residence in her blue 1999 Volkswagen Beetle, which had no license plates, and was never seen again. Michele's roommate, who reported her missing on January 6, 2008, initially believed she had gone to visit a friend in Redding, California, but learned otherwise when the friend called asking about her whereabouts. A few days later, her car was found parked near the Caspar Inn in Caspar, California, about five miles from Fort Bragg. Inside the locked vehicle were her purse, driver's license, and an uneaten banana, but there was no sign of Michele herself.
Michele had moved to Fort Bragg a year before her disappearance from Vacaville, California, where she had been involved in legal disputes, including an arrest in 2006 for violating a restraining order against city officials. At the time she went missing, Michele was estranged from her husband, who still resided in Vacaville. Despite searches and investigations, her case remains unsolved, and authorities have not uncovered any significant leads regarding her disappearance.
