Robert Hughes, 59, was last seen on August 17, 2008, when he left his home in Williamsville, Vermont, around 3:00 p.m. He was heading to a business meeting in Provincetown, Massachusetts, but the following day, on August 18, he was dropped off at the Zealand Falls Trailhead in the Pemigewasset Wilderness of New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest. Hughes had attempted to make a reservation at the Zealand Falls Hut but was unable to complete the booking.
