The siblings were abducted by their non-custodial mother, Marcela Conklin, who faced a felony kidnapping warrant issued two days later, on December 5, 2011. Authorities believe Marcela fled the country with Briana and Sebastian, with the most likely location being Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Briana was described at the time of her disappearance as a biracial (Hispanic/White) girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She was only three years old, about 3 feet tall, and weighed 35 pounds. Her ears were pierced. Sebastian, her brother, was also biracial, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a birthmark on his left calf. He stood at 3 feet 6 inches tall and weighed about 40 pounds. The case has remained open for over a decade, with investigators from the Fairfax County, Virginia Police Department overseeing efforts to locate the children, as the family had prior connections to Virginia.
It is believed that Marcela Conklin may have taken the children to Bolivia, her home country. Despite the issuance of a felony warrant for her arrest, their whereabouts remain unknown, and authorities continue to seek public assistance in locating Briana and Sebastian.
