In the spring of 2014, concern began to mount for 27-year-old Charlotte Trego, a mother of two from Chillicothe, Ohio. She was last seen on approximately May 3, 2014. On the day she was last seen, Charlotte had dinner with her mother and mentioned she had a date later that evening. In a later phone call with her mother that night, she indicated the date did not go well and expressed a desire to enter a rehabilitation program to turn her life around. Reports indicate that later that same night, she had a heated argument with her roommate and was subsequently evicted from their shared residence on Ewing Street. Charlotte was last seen leaving the apartment on foot and has not been heard from since. After a few weeks of unusual silence, her mother officially reported her missing to the Chillicothe Police Department. Despite her struggles with addiction, she maintained a close relationship with her mother, making her sudden lack of contact highly uncharacteristic. Charlotte's personal history reveals a life marked by hardship. The youngest of three, she was deeply affected by her parents' divorce and the subsequent death of her father from cancer in 2002. Following these events, she became more withdrawn and her academic performance declined. She gave birth to her first child at the age of sixteen. Like many of her peers in the area, Charlotte fell into a pattern of drug abuse, including heroin and prescription medications. She also battled depression and had a history of suicide attempts. Just before she vanished, she had been through a rehabilitation program but had unfortunately relapsed. She has several distinct tattoos, including the name "James" on her chest, "Chloe" on her left arm, and a Playboy bunny on her right arm. At the time of her disappearance, she was believed to be wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and camouflage-print sneakers. The disappearance of Charlotte Trego is situated within a deeply troubling context of several other women who went missing or were found deceased in and around Ross County between 2014 and 2015. Many of these women, including Charlotte, were known to be involved in circles where drug use was prevalent, and some may have been involved in prostitution to support their habits. This series of cases, often referred to as the "Chillicothe Six," has drawn national attention and sparked fears of a potential serial predator targeting vulnerable women in the community. Charlotte was friends with another woman, Tameka Lynch, who went missing on the same day and was later found deceased. While one death was ruled a homicide, others were determined to be overdoses or a suicide, rulings that have been disputed by family members. Law enforcement has acknowledged the connections between the women, noting they frequented the same areas and knew some of the same people, but have not officially linked the cases. The investigation into what happened to Charlotte Trego remains open, and authorities suspect foul play, believing her case could be connected to local drug and human trafficking networks.
