Wanda Jean Lemons, a 37-year-old mother of five, lived a life that frequently took her between her family in Chillicothe, Ohio, and Galveston, Texas. Known to use her previous married name, Hodges, or her maiden name, Jackson, Wanda had a transient lifestyle and it was not entirely unusual for her to be out of touch with family for periods of time. She had a history of drug abuse but was reportedly in Chillicothe in 2014 to seek custody of her youngest child. Wanda is described as a white female with brown hair and blue eyes, standing around 5'7" and weighing 135 pounds. She has several distinct physical features, including a scar on her right leg from a past car accident and multiple tattoos, most notably one on her lower back of two dolphins forming a heart. The precise date and circumstances surrounding Wanda's disappearance remain unclear. Her mother last had contact with her around the beginning of October 2014. A friend reported last seeing her in Chillicothe on November 3, 2014. The last known communications from Wanda were text and Facebook messages sent to her adult daughter a couple of days later. After these messages, all contact ceased. Her family's concern grew when the holidays passed with no word from her, which was highly out of character. This prolonged and uncharacteristic silence prompted her mother to file a missing person's report with the Chillicothe Police Department on December 28, 2014. A significant lead in the investigation came from a friend who suggested Wanda may have left for Texas with a truck driver, possibly named Darius or Demarcus Thomas. The investigation into Wanda's disappearance has been met with few answers, and her case remains unsolved. Authorities have followed up on the tip that she traveled to Texas, but this has not been confirmed. Over the years, searches have been conducted based on tips, including a search of Ross Lake in 2017 after police received information that her body may have been there. Wanda's disappearance is tragically one of several that occurred in the Chillicothe area between 2014 and 2015, a series of cases that involved missing and murdered women sometimes referred to as the "Chillicothe Six". Many of these women, including Wanda, knew one another and faced similar struggles with addiction, leading to speculation that their cases might be connected. The string of disappearances and deaths created a sense of fear within the community, and for the families left behind, there is only the lingering pain of not knowing what happened. The case is an overview of a woman who vanished amidst a deeply troubling pattern of similar cases in a small Ohio city, leaving her children and loved ones without closure.
